Hi Jason, Thanks for your interest & I appreciate your desire to find a reliable performance shop to do your machine work. We take GREAT pride in our work here & look forward to doing business with customers like you who value quality & are not just comparing price. Here are some numbers so you can start working on your budget.

Block Prep Package = 395.00

This will include thermal cleaning, blasting, magnaflux & complete inspection of the block. Then we will Bore & Hone the cylinders, Surface the decks parallel to the main bores, lightly deburr the block, & then final clean it before we replace all the oil gallery plugs & fittings. In the past we have also install ARP studs in the main caps. This would be an additional cost I you are interested.

Knife edging & balancing of the crank = 200.00 to 250.00

This will depend in exacting how much time we have to spend correcting the balance which will of coarse depend on what rod & piston you will be using. In the past we have used Wiesco pistons & Eagle rods on these cranks & have had no problem balancing. We can supply these as well as any other parts you will need at a very competitive price.

Porting on Head & Intake = 500.00

It is VERY hard to be accurate on this because there are A LOT of variables to consider & not a lot of consistency from one head/manifold to another. Another thing to consider is that we almost never do any port work without doing a full competition valve job which normally includes larger valves. We also typically mock up the block & heads to fit the intake before porting in it. I think you should plan on spending around 1000.00 on heads & intake to cover everything involved & flow bench time.

Valve train = 750.00

The valve train is another area that’s not real easy to quote. There are very few manufactures making cams for the 300ZX & the ones on the market may not fit your application very well. Once we have the port work done & have a “combination” for the engine mapped out, then we can consider exact cam specifications. Then if we can’t find a shelf cam that will fit perfectly, I can have one custom ground for you.

I’m not real sure what you mean about the squirters. I assume you mean the piston cooling squirters in the block which we will remove while cleaning & machining of the block is preformed & then replace after the final clean is done. If I’m missing something here please let me know & I’ll look into it.

If you are interested in beginning work on your engine, we can start by simply cleaning & inspecting the parts you have to verify their condition. After we have done that & we have a plan for the exact work we will be doing for you, I will quote you an exact price for parts & labor. At that time we will require a deposit of at least 50% of the total estimate to continue work. We will then complete the job & you can pay the balance when you pick up the engine. I hope this has answered some of your questions but please don’t hesitate to call or reply if there is anything else I can answer for you.

I’m looking forward to working with you on your project. Take care, Vic.
